Official oppo bdp-103d (darbee edition) owner's thread. updated 01/23/2017 - official 83-1226 firmware released some people on these forums seemed to want to attack me for this and state how the 103 dvd section was more or less state of the art and not noticeably different than the 83. i still beg to differ.....and will be holding on to my 83.. Darbee on the 103d is nice for blu-rays, but 4k off a uhd disc or even 4k streaming is better than that. if you have a large blu-ray collection it might be a hard choice. i went ahead and picked up a 203, but must admit that i check on occasion to see if used 103's are getting cheaper.. I too am a new owner of oppo 103d, and was somewhat disappointed, but following bob pariseau's great setup tip discovered that darbee really does work. following bob's advice, i set my darbee to hidef=level 35..
Im using the oppo 103d has main media player 2d for the best reasons: source direct , its the only media player in the market supportting this feature. the image quality is also a huge step up above the current media players on the market.. For those interested i just updated my 103d with region free kit internally installed and everything went well and the region free mod still works. i did open up my oppo and unplug the mod before doing the update since that is recommended.. The darbee effect is great for bluray, broadcast hd, and streamed 1080p from my pc but it makes netflix worse. even at 40% hd it makes the picture blocky. i've gone back to other sources for netflix. anyone else noticed the same? lounge 7.2 denon x7200wa, monitor audio (apex & silver 8), seismic 110.
